Opening my Mission Call
I was so nervous. My family drove down from Murray with the envelope and I was left to worry all morning. I tried to sleep in, but ended up waking up at about 7:15. So, to pass the time, i read a book, took a shower, got completely ready, and did a little scripture study. The fam was going to be there at about 11 and we almost always missed them coming in, but we ended up seeing them before they saw us for once.
We ended up deciding to sit outside and got right to the business. My mom was teasing me about that we should eat first or talk for a while and I internally thought that talking sounded way less scary than opening my future, but we were on a bit of a time crunch and i can do hard things.
I actually opened my call and read it to myself first. It sounds silly, but i just had to know that i wasn't going to die or get called somewhere crazy. It also allowed for some time to have a little blanket of comfort come over me. After a few seconds of keeping my family in suspense, I read it out loud to them and there was much celebration and cheering. I actually at one point actually sang some of the song Arkansas from Big River.
I'm super content with where i was called to go and i am so happy that it doesn't seem to scary yet. Knowing that i was going to be close to my family and still in the United States made me so less worried and consequently finals went better than they might have otherwise. I'm looking forward to new adventures and the future!
