Funny: Zone Conference this week was funny. Lots of
unanticipated stick figures, witty commentary. There was a really fun role-play
where I tried to portray one of our really easily distracted investigators and
couldn't do it without giggling. Also, Elder Sorensen, the Elder over vehicles
and transportation did car checks and then came to report on them. He compared
his commentary to Jacob 2, i.e. "it grieveth me that i must use so much
boldness of speech concerning you, before [the Sister Missionaries], many of
whose feelings are exceedingly tender...because of the strict commandment which
i have received from God to admonish you according to your crimes". So
basically, Sisters had cleaner cars than Elders. It was really funny.
Spiritual: This Saturday and Sunday, we got to meet and hear
from Elder Uchtdorf, Elder Holland, Elder Beheshti, and Elder Klebingat. What a
powerful bunch! Some of my biggest take-aways were that
1. You should leave every meeting with a to-do list and a
plan to accomplish your list.
2. Doctrinally knowledgeable is not the same as doctrinally
converted. If you love the doctrine, you will be able to teach powerfully
3. We don't need to be perfect, we need to have perfect
intent. As long as the intent is perfect, the message will come through with
the help of the Holy Ghost.
4. Listen closely to the spirit before and after prayers, He
will say "you can do this!"
5. Heaven's investment in you is an eternal one!
Where I'm at: We had so many spiritual experiences and so
many fun experiences. A favorite was that today I got to go to Graceland
because it was Sister Wheeler's birthday present! Yay! It was a fun place and a
great thing to learn about. Also, this week we got to do some service at the
biggest Baptist church in the Memphis area, Bellevue Baptist. It was quite the
experience! And we even got to do a church tour of their building!
Till next week,
