Funny: We carry paperback copies of the Book of Mormon and
Bible, but those get worn and torn and so one of the best ways to prevent that
from happening is DIY missionary lamination. So you take shipping tape and
cover the books so they don't fall apart so easily. Since this helps us as
missionaries, we thought that the kids we were working with would love it too!
So we got some tape and some pamphlets and let them tape in their favorite
pictures while we taped their copies of the Book of Mormon. Some chose to have
pockets, but it was just a fun time to talk to the kids about why scriptures
are sacred and why we need to read them.
Spiritual: Last week we met Alex, who is in his 20's and has
done research into other churches. When we first met him, we gave him a copy of
the Book of Mormon and invited him to read the introduction. Next time we
checked in with him, he was on 1 Nephi 5. Then, he was on 1 Nephi 11! What?
This doesn't usually happen! So we have taught him twice already and he is just
soaking up all the things we are teaching him. He is a miracle for this area.
We totally believe he could be baptized by the end of April!
Where I’m at: The work in Millington is going so well. We
successfully found 10 hours of service last week and the weather is getting
perfect. It's been interesting to realize that progress happens slowly, but
that after some time, the people we are working with are showing signs of
really understanding the message of the Gospel. I hope everybody from home is
enjoying the Jordan River Temple Open House for me! I'm sad that I’m missing
it!
Have a blessed week!
Sister Black
One of the girls in the ward asked us the subject question
and then we had to explain how missionaries in Utah work with members not too
much. It was so funny!
