Spiritual:
This week I got to go to Searcy for a day for exchanges. While we were there we
met a man named Sammy who was formerly a member of the reorganized Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Community of Christ).
The crazy part of that experience was that Sister Taylor and I had been
discussing break-off groups of the church just the day before and I had even
brought up on the car ride to Searcy that I had wondered what differences there
were between our church and the reorganized church. The Church History Topics
on Gospel Library gives you just enough details to get you curious, but it
really mostly focuses on our church. Anyway, Sammy is actually super cool and
already has a testimony of the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants
and feels like his church is veering away from true doctrine. So we of course,
invited him to attend church and to meet with missionaries, which he readily
agreed to!
Funny:
We went to the Greene County Family History Center to do service and while we
were there, we met a guy named John T. Wayne, who is John Wayne's grandson and
an author of Civil War novels. It was just like rubbing shoulders with royalty
:) Maybe we'll ask him if we can get a picture with him next time we see
him.
Where
I'm at: Sister Taylor and I are having an excess of people to teach and it's
really busy! But mostly when we get to spend the one day in the really far away
part of our area! This is the time when we could just apparate or something,
that would be so handy! We love the people here and are excited for the next
few weeks!
