Spiritual: We have dinner with our Branch President and his
family about every other week so they've had a lot of spiritual thoughts and we
really wanted to be able to give them a message and an invitation that would
really matter to them. We ended up showing them "Compelling Witness"
(go watch it at https://www.lds.org/youth/video/compelling-witness?lang=eng
if you haven't seen it before) and we invited all of them to tell somebody
about the Book of Mormon this week. To sweeten the deal, we told them that if
all of them did it by Sunday, we would make them cookies. BUT, if anybody
didn't do it, that person had to make cookies for us! They took on the
challenge and we put up some sticky notes in their front window to remind them
as they left the house to do it. We actually drove by their house a few times
during the week to see how many sticky notes were left, but weren't sure they
were going to make it! Finally, Sunday came and the kids came running into
church because they were so excited to tell us that they had all done it! It
was so great hearing about their little missionary moments and very worth the
sugar cookies we had to make!
Funny: I had an adorable conversation with the grandson of a
member. He's 3. He introduced himself, "My name is Danny" and went on
to tell us about his entire family. Then, I introduced myself, "My name is
Sister Black!" He paused for a moment, then said "My sister's white.
She's just a baby". We held our laughter till we got back in the car.
Bahaha! So funny!
Where I'm at: This has been a rainy week and sickness has
hit a lot of people because of the weather change. We also are seeing a change
here in Paragould as Sister Taylor goes down to Bryant to be with Sister
Woolley and Sister Mitchell is coming up here! We had a pretty laid-back
Halloween, but ended up with a lot of tootsie rolls after our attempt to pass
out candy was sabotaged by the rain. One more transfer to run my hardest!
Until next week!
Sister Black
