Why are we riding bikes in almost 100% humidity in the
middle of summer? Because we are disciples of Jesus Christ! We have been called
by Him to declare His word among His people that they might have everlasting
life. Would you be interested in learning more? No? You're Southern Baptist?
Okay, y'all have a blessed day.
Seriously though. It has gotten significantly warmer and
people think we are pretty cool (or pretty crazy) for biking. I've learned that
some shirts I cannot wear while biking because otherwise the sweat will show
too much. It really is good stamina building, but I am grateful it only lasts
for a week.
Spiritual: In Glenwood, on exchanges, I met a really cool
girl named Sherri. She is 15 and got baptized last spring. All the lesson I had
with her, she brought a friend from school named Katelyn and it was really cool
to see how much Sherri wanted Katelyn to be happy and safe so she wanted
her so join the church. I loved hearing her testify of the Book of
Mormon. She has so much energy! She is totally a future missionary!
Funny: This week I had my first experience showering twice
in one day. This is because I was so hot and sweaty from the humidity working
in evil harmony with the heat. Oh we worked so hard and I came home exhausted,
but it was pretty amazing because we got out of a lesson pretty late and so we
rushed back to the apartment just before 9:30. Exact obedience brings miracles.
Specifically, it brings the miracle that nobody stole the keys we left in the
outside of the door when we rushed in and somehow forgot that they were still
there. So many blessings. That was so exciting to discover, but we are
definitely not doing that again.
Where I'm at: I'm doing really well! Arkadelphia is super green
right now and I've made friends with a lot of the branch members. We have lots
of new investigators to work with and everything is going to work great. I'll
let you know who my new companion is next week!
Have a lovely week!

Other Emma news:
The Branch is doing a Pioneer day celebration /fundraiser
for girls camp tonight and so we texted yesterday and asked what the movie was
going to be so that we could tell people and ask the mission president. The
adults are watching 17 Miracles but the kids are watching the Lego Batman
Movie. I couldn't even try to hide my excitement to Sister Decker and she
thought I was so funny
SD: "You can't even watch it, we're not even going to
be in that room. Why are you so excited?"
Me: "but somebody is going to watch it and they are
going to like it so much! Did you know they have a rubber duck car in
it?"
SD: "I'm seriously buying earplugs and a
blindfold so that you can't get tempted at all if we walk past that
door."
Me: "Because I'm Batman 🦇"
Unfortunately (or actually probably a good thing) our
mission president wants us out and tracting on this holiday. So we won't even
have the temptation of batman.
So we got to district meeting before our district leader
and so I decided to help out and chose the music and whatever. We have 2 elders
and 4 sisters and so for the opening song I chose "As sisters in
Zion" and for the closing song I chose "Ye Elders of Israel" it
was so funny. He came in and literally stared at the chalkboard and said
"nobody has ever done that to me before" He let it stay though! And
so when we sang "as sisters in Zion" the elders sang "as elders
in Zion." I think I'm pretty funny...😁
