Funny: Yesterday was Fast Sunday and it was very exciting.
First off, we had the shortest baby blessing I’ve ever heard and it was perfect
and simple and sweet. Not a long Utah blessing though. Second, the people
standing up were mostly visiting family for the baby blessing, which is fun and
always full of inside jokes. Third, a cool black guy came in in the middle of
the meeting and i had never seen him before. He eventually stands up and goes
up to the podium and leans on the stand and starts talking. He tells us about
himself, where he is from, how he ended up at this church and that he wants to
learn about what we believe so that he can help us out. The branch presidency
kept shooting us looks and as soon as Sacrament Meeting was over we went and
talked to him and found out that he is named Willie and wants to learn more.
When we approached him, and introduced ourselves as the people who could teach
him about the church, he looked at us and said "You gotta be pullin my leg"
because he thought we were like 14. Bahaha. He's awesome. He came to Gospel
Principles and is on track to being taught. It was such a funny meeting.
Spiritual: I got the opportunity to attend Zone Conference
with Elder Klebingat of the Seventy and i am so happy about everything that i
learned. He taught about how using the Book of Mormon is how we can see who is
prepared to hear the gospel. If they read it and keep that commitment to read
it with real intent, they will get the answer that it is true. I learned so
much and have so many things to study, but i am completely committed to reading
the Book of Mormon every single day for the rest of my life, and not just
read-- study.
Where I’m at: The weather here is perfect and things are
going well. I love being able to connect with people on Facebook and getting to
send people videos. I think that i am going to be able to share spiritual stuff
online with no fear when i come home. I love hearing about how people here are
and a lot of them remember me even if it has been a long time since I’ve seen
them. I'm happy to be here in Arkadelphia and i am always learning and
growing.
