Spiritual: One of my favorite things this week was something
I found in my personal study. It is in Alma 5:12. That scripture says "And
according to his faith there was a mighty change wrought in his heart. Behold I
say unto you that this is all true." I really like that because it feels
like a direct comparison to me. That as much as our faith goes up, our
"mighty change" goes up. It also means that as soon as you can see
yourself start to change for the better, you have an assurance that you are
having an increase of faith. So if you can see change or if you can see your
faith growing, the Lord is bound to fulfill the other part of his promise. When
I first skimmed over that verse i thought it said "because of"
instead of "according to" and I have realized how different those
things are. We don't change after our faith is perfect or because our faith is
increasing. It is according to the faith so we can progress line upon line,
precept upon precept and have lasting conversion.
Funny: We went to dinner with us and a few couples in the
ward. We were having a good talk when the conversation turned to guns. The
brother hosting us went to his wall, opened a hidden panel, and took out an old
pistol. We were shocked. Then he handed the pistol to one of the other girls
there and then went back to the same hidden panel and took out a
legitimate, really old rifle. Now, I have been to this house many times and I
had never ever noticed the hidden panel. He told us about the guns and how to
load them and somebody else contributed the information on how to make a gun
out of bike spokes. I am absolutely certain that there are more secret panels
in that house. It was so crazy.
Where I'm at: We are so excited for the holidays,
especially Christmas with the #LIGHTtheWORLD initiative. We were able to go
talk to the Henderson State University campus representative about the rules of
being on campus and proselyting and we have decided to spend a day hosting a
table (for a fee 😒) and passing out
#LIGHTtheWORLD cards! The Branch President is going to oversee everything, but
we are really excited to reach out to the college kids and invite them to learn
more! We anticipate this to be really successful! The weather isn't bad and we
are still praying mightily for 80 baptisms by the end of the year! We got 22 as
a mission in October and we are going to keep working hard to get the rest of
those souls!
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
