This week was pretty good and I had a lot of fun serving the
people of Arkadelphia.
Spiritual: Our mission is doing something unique that I am
really excited to be doing. We have been asked to invite people to meet with
the missionaries as much as we can and to record how many people we invite. We
really love recording this because it helps us to see what effort we are making
in our own work. This week our mission president has asked us as a mission to
achieve 3500 invitations and we are willing and ready to make that happen. It
is very cool to see how inviting somebody to learn more helps them be brave
enough to say yes and let us come meet with them.
Funny: There is a less-active lady that we try to visit
often named Lea Ann and she was telling us how she was so excited because it
was going to rain on the 1st of September. We were confused as to why that
would be exciting... Apparently, she heard from somebody who was doing the
weather on TV that if it rains on the 1st of the month, it will rain for
exactly 15 days that month. So if it rained for you on the 1st of the month,
keep track of how many days it rains because I'm not sure I see the weather
following quite that specific pattern. It didn't rain for us on that day so we
can't know the future. It was just a really funny conversation.
Where I'm at: In Arkadelphia, we had quite a few people who
have loved ones in Texas who were affected by the Hurricane and we also had a
few people who are experiencing personal hurricanes so we have seen the branch
come support people really well. It will be interesting to see where this next
week takes us, given that next week is transfers...
Things are good here :)
